Tailgate produce



The tailgate markets are offering more and more produce as we move into summer. We are seeing beautiful asparagus, radishes, lettuce, arugula, spring onions, and strawberries. There are many ways to use these ingredients, and we have been trying out new recipes for each of them. The very simple salad is from a 1996 issue of Gourmet magazine. This recipe, which is quick to prepare, has lovely colors and textures, and will complement almost any entrée. It is especially pretty with "Easter egg" radishes which come in a variety of colors. The pasta recipe is a favorite at our house when asparagus is in season. For those of us who enjoy asparagus and lemon, this is a perfect pairing. The strawberry tart is a Julia Child creation that is both beautiful, and delicious. When finished, using strawberries at the peak of the season, it is almost too lovely to eat.
