Snacks from Foothills Village

Members of the food committee for the upcoming Foothills Village membership launch are in their kitchens creating some great snacks for the event. Among other wonderful things to be sampled that evening, Pat Fuller will be making the cheese wafer recipe from the last column, and Janet Gray is trying out a hummus recipe that we have enjoyed for years. Our contribution will be two meatball recipes that can be made ahead and frozen. The cocktail meatballs with chimichurri sauce appeared in a column a few months ago, and the second recipe for meatballs with sweet and sour sauce is listed below. The apricots topped with goat cheese and walnuts is an attractive appetizer option, and one that is easily put together.

Foothills Village is offering people the option to age at home through a network of volunteers and paid contractors. The event at Holy Cross Episcopal Church in Tryon, will feature a presentation on frailty, an opportunity to discuss both membership and volunteer opportunities with Foothills Village board members, and a chance to try out some new appetizer recipes. There is no charge to attend, and everyone is welcome. We look forward to seeing you on March 20th at 5:30 pm.
