Barbecue side dishes
Since grill season is in full swing, we wanted to share a few recipes that add some color to all of those delicious chicken, beef, seafood, and pork entrees we are enjoying right now. All of these salad options offer taste, color, and texture - something we occasionally find lacking with grill-based meals. In the red cabbage slaw recipe, definitely use Granny Smith apples for color contrast. Although it's too early for local corn, the Florida corn in most of the grocery stores will work for the grilled corn salad. All of these recipes can be made ahead, and plated (with garnishes) at the time of serving.
Don't forget to add the Tryon Tailgate Market to your produce shopping options. The market will be open on Wednesdays at 4:30 pm beginning June 6.
